Laundry Fail, Solution and Pretty Up

I've been making my own laundry soap for quite a while now and I'm really pleased with it.  I love the smell and it does an excellent job of cleaning our clothes.  I found a recipe for fabric softener and I made some.  At first I really liked it, but recently it has been leaving "softener spots" on some of our clothes.  You know what I mean... those little spots that look like grease spots.  I'm not totally convinced that it's the softener but I'm leaning more towards that than that my fairly new washing machine somehow is not distributing the softener properly.

So, yesterday I had to pick a few things up at the grocery store and I bought dryer sheets.  Not sure this is a solution to my problem either, because what will I do when the weather warms up and I hang my clothes outside? The dryer sheets won't do the job then.  But for now, they are my solution.  Did you ever notice how ugly dryer sheet boxes are?  Yeah, me either.  Until there was one sitting on my dryer.  So, I took an empty diaper wipes container and plopped the dryer sheets in it.  Perfect!

And while I was at it... I cleaned off the top of my dryer and wiped down the washer and dryer.  Is it me or are those two machines major dust magnets?  Now that the clothes machines are clean and shiny and the top of the dryer is neat, I guess I should probably neaten up the rest of the room.  Ever notice how when you do one tiny little thing it turns into a major project??

Thanks for stopping by...
