Gwen Stefani continues to plan her sure-to-be excellent comeback. After dropping her quite amazing, still stuck on repeat, solo single "Baby Don't Lie" last week, the talented artist now teams up with heavyweight producer Calvin Harris for "Together", an infectious number set to be featured on Harris' upcoming Motion, alongside other artists including Ellie Goulding and Big Sean.
On "Together", a subtle love song set to a thumping dance beat, Stefani tackles the lyrics of always running away from what is right as she delicately balances between the two sides of her long career: the unique, reggae delivery and the ability to keep up with a dancefloor ready tune. While the actual beats are not as attention-grabbing as some of Harris' previous work, they do work as a tamer club effort.
We have heard Stefani in a sugary pop setting before, however, this may be the first time we hear her vocals tailored for some kind of crazy EDM festival. She definitely succeeds as she sings of seducing a man from across the bar. "We're gonna wake up together, you won't wanna go home, we'll find love here forever, cause we'll wake up together," Stefani sings on the hypnotic chorus.
Motion will be released later this week, but it appears Stefani may be stealing the spotlight from the "Summer" producer this time around. "Together" is the type of track we have already come to expect from Harris, however, it is Stefani who keeps surprising us. Whether it's with Harris, Maroon 5 or venturing out solo, the blonde bombshell shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
