* I apologize for no full album review today. This has been a very busy week in my young college life and I just did not have time to enjoy listening to a whole album. I planned on reviewing Far East Movement's debut "Free Wired", but instead I will just talk about their second single. Next week I'll have a full review, no excuses!
Last Tuesday, October 12th, iTunes released Far East Movement's second single, "Don't Look Now feat. Keri Hilson", as their weekly free download which was a strange move in my opinion. With their first single, "Like a G6", still going strong on the radio, I guarantee you it will hit number one on Thursday, they should have capitalized on their success by actually selling their second single. The second single is in fact an improvement from the annoying anthem that is "Like a G6".
The song starts off at a slower pace than their previous release, ridding themselves of the party vibe for just a minute. Even though I am still getting use to their music, was not impressed by their first impression on the radio, I must say I am glad I downloaded this track. Keri Hilson, who is about to release a new album as well, is featured on the song and makes it what it really is. Her beautiful, soft vocals balance the strong performances from the group to create a successful song that shows another side of their talent. I do not think the song would have been a success if that did not have Hilson attacted to the project. She is a big name that is giving their music some well deserved credit in the music industry. Their soon to be number one first single is causing my ears to bleed every time I hear it just because it is being overplayed, just like every other song out there right now. However I believe that this track will be another hit for them for very different reasons.
The song was free so it did not have a chance to pop up on this week's charts, but I know it will. The lyrics, beat, and flow of the song work together perfectly and actually makes me want to still buy their album to see what they came up with for the rest of tracks. Far East Movement is a group that is currently pushing their new found success and fame into a good direction so they will not become just a one-hit wonder like must artists who release party songs do. The track is nowhere near amazing, but it is a great listen that I have played more than a couple times since I go it. Overall it gets a 87% from me.
* Oh and I have some news that I need to share with you all later on tonight, so come back if you want! I would appreciate it greatly!
